Jason Momoa walked the red carpet for the launch of his Apple TV+ series See. Talking to, ET he said about his upcoming sequel Aquaman 2. The movie is set to hit theaters after three years, What we know so far is that Momoa will come back as the underwater hero, Amber Heard will reprise her role of Mera, with director James Wan returning to direct the sequel, and writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick coming back to write the script as well.
When asked about the sequel, Momoa teased that the next movie will be “way bigger.” Here’s what he had to say:
“There’s a lot more in store on so many more levels. There’s going to be a lot. It’s way bigger!”
He went on to add that he had some ideas and input about where the story will lead, and he was able to take them to the studio. He added:
“I’m really stoked at the fan base and what we did with the movie and just went into Warner Bros in D.C. and said, ‘You know, I have some ideas. And, they love them and James [Wan, director] and everyone is like, ‘We’re all taking it in. We’re excited to do another one.’”
Then when asked about his step-daughter Zoe Kravitz’s new role as Catwoman in the upcoming movie The Batman. He said on the fame that he was quickly thrust into when he took the role of Aquaman and said of her role:
“That’s actually the first thing I said to her — ‘Your life’s going to change. I’ve been hiding for a good solid 18 years and all of a sudden, Aquaman happened and boom! So, that’s the one thing I don’t even know if I’m prepared for — she’s going to be huge. She’s beautiful, she’s talented. She’s going to kill it and [I’ll be like], ‘Well, welcome to the team baby!’”
Aquaman 2 will hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
