Jimmy Kimmel didn’t waste much time in making a few Trump jokes at the 89th Oscars ceremony.
Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t poke a lot at President Donald Trump during the opening monologue on Sunday.
But when he did, it was marvelous:
“Maybe this is not a popular thing to say but I want to say thank you to President Trump. I mean remember last year when it seemed like the Oscars were racist?”

He opened the monologue by saying while several suggest him to “say something to unite” viewers, he “can’t do that.”
“There’s only one Braveheart in this room and he’s not going to unite us either,” Kimmel said before the camera highlighted Mel Gibson.
He advises viewers, instead, to reach out to one person you disagree with and have a positive considerate conversation.
“If you do that, we can all make America great again,” he said. “It starts with us.”
Later, when Meryl Streep received a standing ovation during the opening — Kimmel also mocked how Trump views Streep.
