Kon-Tiki Directors to Take on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5
Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg have officially landed the gig helming Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean 5. According to the report, Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have signed off on the choice, and the studio is now in negotiations. The deal should close soon, and they are looking to start production late this year or early next.
The two directors were on the top of Disney’s list to develop this movie, so it must be nice for both parties that it’s working out. After seeing Kon-Tiki, I was really rooting for these guys to make it in this crazy entertainment industry. Pirates is a huge franchise, and it will serve as a stepping stone that will take them to bigger and better things.
