The highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch releases this week and the biggest game to launch with the console is Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The latest installment in one of Nintendo’s most popular series will feature main character Link awakening from a 100-year slumber for another adventure through the kingdom of Hyrule. The game will feature state-of-the-art visuals and the largest open-world environment of any game in the franchise.
Along with updated graphics, Breath of the Wild also features a new look for Link including a blue tunic, which is quite a change from previous versions. HalloweenCostumes.com has put together this infographic featuring the evolution of Link throughout the franchise. Take a look at how his costume and in-game appearance changed from now all the way back to The Legend of Zelda, which was released 30 years ago in North America (the original came out in 1986 in Japan).
While each game featured minor changes, some of the looks lasted for more than one game. For example, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s mask featured nearly identical looks aside from the added shoulder strap. The look from Twilight Princess carried over the Skyward Sword as well. Older games also had a consistent costume for the link, but what you saw in the game depended on the graphics of what system you were using. Check them all out and choose your favorite below!
