Mads Mikkelsen to Star in Indiana Jones 5

Mads Mikkelsen

Mads Mikkelsen will be joining the cast of the next Indiana Jones movie, Deadline reports.

Mikkelsen, who is famous for his starring roles in Hannibal, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding and Polar, and the recently teased Riders of Justice, will co-star with Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Plot and character details are not revealed thus far, however, so it’s not sure what kind of role Mikkelsen will play, I bet he is playing the villain.

Disney has earlier confirmed that Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled for a July 29 2022 release. Steven Spielberg had earlier been eyed to come back as director, but ultimately declined because of the disagreements on the script. Instead, James Mangold has been brought on to direct, while Spielberg will work as a producer. Composer John Williams, who scored all the Indiana Jones movies, will come back as a composer. Production is scheduled to start sometime this summer.

Warner Bros. in 2020 announced that Mikkelsen is replacing Johnny Depp as Grindlewald in the Fantastic Beasts movies, following Depp’s resignation. Mikkelsen’s new movie, Riders of Justice, sees the actor play a newly deployed soldier who must come back home after his wife tragically dies in what seems to be a train accident, but proves to be related to a more rooted murder plot.
