Where is Marble Comes From

Where marble came from? Well take this adventure with Italian artist and filmmaker Yuri Ancarani where he captures the otherworldly landscape of a marble quarry on Monte Bettolgi, in the Carrara region of the Apuan Alps in Northwest Italy and you should know Italian marble is best in the world,  You can read more about the film at Nowness.

Now what really marble is: Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Geologists use the term “marble” to refer to metamorphosed limestone; however, stonemasons use the term more broadly to encompass unmetamorphosed limestone. Marble is commonly used for sculpture and as a building material.
