Martin Scorsese is one of the most gifted and skilled filmmakers and storytellers to come through Hollywood. I love his films that he has made over the course of his career. You can tell how much he loves film in the movies that he executes, and you can tell his directing style has been inspired by his love of cinema.
Scorsese recently shared his list of favorite movies with MUBI, and it’s huge! The list consists of 897 movies and that is some big number! What I love about this list is that it has opened me to films that I have never seen before now I have a huge to watch list.
I hate to acknowledge it, but there are a huge amount of movies on this list that I haven’t seen.
The list is organized by year, so it’s impossible to say what Scorsese’s Top 10 favorite would be, but to get you started I included the first fifteen films on the list and some of his favorite films from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. To see the complete list, click here.
