The McDonald’s corporate Twitter feed is a mostly used to communicate menu changes and to answer people’s complaints about their meals, or how they desperately want the McRib to come back.
It’s not clear who sent the tweet which was quickly deleted after nearly twenty minutes of being posted. While it’s possible that it was sent by a staff member who mixed up the McDonalds twitter feed with their own, I don’t think the account was hacked because the tweet was pinned.
McDonald’s has issued a statement saying the account was ‘compromised.’
Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.
