Millennium Films is rebooting Day of the Dead, and Mark Tonderai is the man to helm the project.
Mark Tonderai has been hired to co-write and direct a new version of Day of the Dead, the trilogy closer of George Romero’s original zombie trilogy.
George Romero followed his genre-defining Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead with Day of the Dead in 1985.
Set in an underground military base, the film follows the zombie apocalypse from the point of view of both soldiers, scientists and a zombie test subject named Bub.
Day of the Dead was previously remade in 2008 as a direct-to-home video effort. The producers on the new film are promising that it will attempt to honor Romero’s original and assure that the zombies will be of the slow-moving horde variety.
