Fox Searchlight has revealed a new trailer for Natalie Portman’s upcoming astronaut drama Lucy in the Sky. The movie was written and directed by Noah Hawley (Legion and Fargo), and Portman plays a triumphant female astronaut named Lucy Cola who, “after coming back home from a mission in space, starts to unravel when confronted by her seemingly perfect American dream life.”
The story of the movie will explore the theory that astronauts lose touch with reality after a very time in space, and as you’ll see, Lucy’s life starts to unravel out of control as she starts up an affair with an astronaut (Jon Hamm). Dan Stevens plays Lucy’s husband in the movie.
The movie is based on astronaut Lisa Nowak’s criminal activities including her romance with astronaut William Oefelein. This is no doubt going to be an emotional movie, check out the synopsis:
An astronaut returns to Earth after a lengthy mission and begins an affair with a fellow astronaut. She heads into a downward spiral as she loses her connection to her family — a condition that can afflict those who spend a long time in space — and when her lover begins another affair with an astronaut trainee, the bottom drops out.
The movie stars Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Tig Notaro, Ellen Burstyn, Colman Domingo, and Joe Williamson.
Lucy In The Sky will hit theaters on October 4th.
