The Sandman

Check out the awesome new trailer for Neil Gaiman’s live-action series adaptation of The Sandman has been released at Comic-Con, and if you’ve been looking forward to this series, this trailer is going to get you all excited! There were a couple of clips that were shared during the presentation as well, but don’t expect those to be released anytime soon. Regardless, the series looks great and is worth watching!

Gaiman talked about the series and revealed that there will include an end-credit scene. When describing that he said: “Every episode has end-title credits, and it’s a different sequence for each episode in this amazing, flowing film that Dave McKean made.”

“There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”

The show is based on the award-winning DC comic series written by Neil Gaiman, and it’s described as “a rich, character-driven blend of myth and dark fantasy woven together over the course of ten epic chapters following Dream’s many adventures.”

The series is being developed and executive produced by Gaiman, showrunner Allan Heinberg (Wonder Woman, Grey’s Anatomy), and David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Terminator: Dark Fate, Foundation). One thing that Gaiman has been preparing fans for is that while the essence of the comic book is present in the upcoming series adaptation, this show is going to be its own thing.

The Sandman will premiere on Netflix on August 5th, 2022.
