Neill Blomkamp’s Mysterious Series of Experimental Sci-Fi Films Trailer

District 9 director Neill Blomkamp launched a new strange project called Oat Studios. He’s directing and releasing a series of experimental short films that he will sell through Steam, which is Valve’s PC distribution service. Today the first trailer has been released for Oat Studios “Volume 1.”

The shorts teased in this trailer look awesome and it makes me wonder if any of these will end up producing feature length films. Even if they don’t, at least we’ll get some entertainment from these shorts.

The trailer starts off with a shot of the Eiffel Tower in what looks to be a post-apocalyptic future, voiceover explaining that aliens have invaded Earth to exterminate humanity. The aliens are quite freaky looking. The trailer then shows a woman, blasting away at an alien in a red-lit corridor. Then there’s footage of American soldiers in the Vietnam war where mysterious things are happening and more aliens causing havoc.
