Netflix’s New Interactive Show is You vs. Wild, Release Date Revealed

You vs. Wild

Netflix has announced a new interactive show — It is a choose-your-adventure TV series called You vs. Wild, starring Bear Grylls, the survival TV star known for his Discovery Channel series Man vs. Wild, via Variety.

The new upcoming eight-episode show was announced at Netflix’s press event in Los Angeles and will let viewers track along with Grylls on adventures around the world as he tries to survive and do all the silly eatings in the wild. The twist is that spectators will be able to choose Grylls’ choices in each episode and see how they play out I am sure making a choice to jump off a cliff won’t be included. Asked jokingly whether viewers could make choices that would kill Bear Grylls, Netflix Vice President of Original Series Cindy Holland laughed and said she doesn’t anticipate You Vs. Wild to be as “dark” as Netflix’s early interactive project, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

You vs. Wild marks the second interactive live-action project from Netflix, after Black Mirror: Bandersnatchwhich took the internet by surprise and started a heated battle for months. Netflix had also previously tinkered with interactive shows with animated series like Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale and a Minecraft show with Telltale Games, but these live-action efforts draw a much bigger crowd, more expensive, and higher-profile projects for the streaming company.
