New EVIL DEAD RISE Clip Features the Discovery of Another Book of the Dead

EVIL DEAD RISE

Director Lee Cronin’s upcoming film Evil Dead Rise is generating buzz with its newly released clip showcasing the discovery of The Book of the Dead. As the caption on the clip suggests, the book is “NOT an easy read,” and fans of the franchise can attest to that fact.

The Evil Dead series has always revolved around The Book of the Dead, also known as the Necronomicon, and in Army of Darkness, Sam Raimi introduced the concept that there are at least three such books in existence. Cronin plays with this idea in Evil Dead Rise, as he recently explained in an interview with SFX Magazine.

Cronin confirmed that Evil Dead Rise is set in the same world as the previous films in the franchise, and the events of the story take place after both Fede Alvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead and Raimi’s original trilogy. He also revealed that the book featured in the movie is connected to the past and is the third book from the Army of Darkness trilogy.

In Evil Dead Rise, the story follows Beth, a road-weary woman who pays a visit to her sister Ellie in Los Angeles. Ellie is raising three kids alone in a small apartment when they discover a mysterious book in their building, unleashing flesh-possessing demons and forcing Beth to battle for survival in the face of terrifying motherhood.

The movie stars Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic At Hanging Rock) as the two sisters, along with Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End), and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) in supporting roles. Evil Dead Rise is set to hit theaters on April 21, 2023, and fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting its release to see how the story unfolds.
