New Glorious Hannibal Season 3 Trailer

Hannibal Season 3

NBC has just released a new trailer for the Hannibal season 3. In this season Mads Mikkelsen’s Dr. Lecter reciting the first sonnet from Dante Alighieri’s “La Vita Nuova.” In addition to having been referenced in Ridley Scott’s Hannibal feature, Dante’s words are particularly relevant to the third season of the Fuller series in which Lecter himself is embracing a new life:

To every captive soul and gentle heart
into whose sight this present speech may come,
so that they might write its meaning for me,
greetings, in their lord’s name, who is Love.
Already a third of the hours were almost past
of the time when all the stars were shining,
when Amor suddenly appeared to me
whose memory fills me with terror.
Joyfully Amor seemed to me to hold
my heart in his hand, and held in his arms
my lady wrapped in a cloth sleeping.
Then he woke her, and that burning heart
he fed to her reverently, she fearing,
afterwards he went not to be seen weeping.

Hannibal Season 3

After the shocking events of the season finale, Hannibal season three finds Lecter on the run in Europe — accompanied by his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson, “The X-Files”) — sporting a new identity, but servicing the same insatiable appetite. As the lives of Will (Hugh Dancy), Jack (Laurence Fishburne, The Matrix, “CSI”) and Alana (Caroline Dhavernas, “Wonderfalls,” “The Pacific”) converge toward Hannibal again, their deadly dance turns in startling and unexpected ways, and nothing will ever be the same again.

Catch the return of “Hannibal” on NBC Thursday, June 4 at 9:00pm ET/PT.
