Nicolas Cage will be starring in and produce a new limited-series that centers around Tiger King‘s Joe Exotic.
The series is based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstad, and the story “centers around Joe Shreibvogel, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park — even at the risk of losing his sanity. The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.”
The Tiger King doc was a tremendous hit on Netflix, and there’s no doubt that fans are going to flock to watch this series, especially with Cage taking on the role of Joe Exotic! He’s just too ideal for the role, and it’s not hard at all to believe him as Joe Exotic.
The series is set up at Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios, and it will come out with eight episodes. The series is being developed by American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana and Paul Young.
