Noah Hawley’s ALIEN Series Will Start Shooting Next Year

ALIEN Series

Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) has been developing a new Alien series for FX for over a few years now and it’s almost ready to go into production. FX chief John Landgraf recently shared at the TCA panel (via Deadline), that the Alien series will officially start shooting in 2023.

Landgraf shared that Hawley has turned in all the scripts for Alien’s first season, but we don’t know how many episodes that will entail. Before Hawley starts shooting the series, he will be working on the fifth season of Fargo, which he’s the showrunner for.

The story is said to be set “not too far into our future, it’s the first Alien set on Earth—and by blending both the timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second, it’s going to be a scary thrill ride that will blow people back in their seats.“

Hawley also talked about the series, “It’s about how we’re trapped between the primordial past and the artificial intelligence of our future, where both [are] trying to kill us. It’s set on Earth in the future. At this moment, I describe that as Edison versus Westinghouse versus Tesla. Someone’s going to monopolize electricity. We just don’t know which one it is.”

He went on to say, “It’s a story that’s set on Earth also. The alien stories are always trapped… Trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ are more immediate.”

Hawley’s series isn’t the only big Alien project in development. Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead) is set to write and direct a new Alien movie, with Ridley Scott producing.
