The Powerpuff Girls Is Coming Back to Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network announced Monday that the beloved plucky trio of superheroes — Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup — will return to the network in 2016, more than a decade after the show went off the air.” The original Powerpuff Girls was a franchise phenomenon for Cartoon Network, paving the way for a new generation ofinnovative storytellers and enthusiastic fans worldwide,” said RobSorcher, chief content officer of the Cartoon Network. “We are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice and Chemical X.”

During its 78-episode run on the network from 1998 to 2004, The Powerpuff Girls won two Emmy Awards and inspired a 2003 feature film.
