Lionsgate has been developing a new Power Rangers movie for a while. It will be directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac). Artwork includes Zordon, Rita Repulsa, The Control Room, Alpha, T-Rex Zord, and Megazord.
Stars Becky Gomez as the Yellow Ranger, R.J.Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger. The film will be based on a screenplay written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (Fringe).
Conceptual artists Alex Ruiz and Gregory Semkow whip up some designs. There’s no information given on who the director was, but the artwork includes Zordon, Rita Repulsa, The Control Room, Alpha, T-Rex Zord, and Megazord.
Regarding the art, Ruiz said:
“This is some concept art I made for a director who was pitching his film version of Power Rangers. If you guys remember someone made an amazing PR fan film this year, which lit the fire under many asses to get a full on Hollywood film made. So, many a director jumped at the opportunity. Unfortunately our guy didn’t get it, it went to another director. Such is the nature of the film business.”
When talking about Megazord’s visor, the artist explained: “The director had a very cool idea of wanting to see the Rangers through a transparent visor, instead of the traditional head.”
The Power Rangers movie will release in theaters on March 24th, 2017.
