Rick And Morty Season 6 Coming This September

Rick and Morty

Adult Swim has announced that Rick and Morty is returning in just over a month, giving fans a highly-anticipated sixth season of the Emmy-winning animated comedy. The show will premiere on Sunday, September 4 on Adult Swim.

If you’re thinking about what’s planned for the duo this go around, the official description states, “It’s season six, and Rick and Morty are back! Pick up where we left them, worse for wear and down on their luck. Will they manage to bounce back for more adventures? Or will they get swept up in an ocean of piss! Who knows?! Piss! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More piss! Another can’t miss a season of your favorite show.”

It sounds like more of what fans have come to love from Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s show, which has been the top-rated comedy on television in every year that it’s aired since its fourth season–2017, 2019, and 2021. It has clearly had a significant impact on animated comedy, so it’s reasonable to expect that the trend will continue.

This sentiment was echoed by the president of Adult Swim and Cartoon Network, Michael Ouweleen, who said in a statement, “It’s hard to overstate the impact of Rick and MortyMore than a hit show, it is truly a global phenomenon. As we prepare to launch this soon-to-be iconic season, we will be giving fans a unique way to be part of the fun–so keep your eyes peeled.”

Adult Swim ordered 70 episodes of the show back in 2018, and with each season being around 10 episodes each, it’s safe to think we’ve got many more years of Rick and Morty to look forward to even after Season 6.

Rick and Morty will air on September 4 at 11 PM ET/PT on Adult Swim.
