Ridley Scott Confirmed New ALIEN Movie, But It Won’t Connect To PROMETHEUS and COVENANT

Ridley Scott is informed of the new Alien movie that has been in development, in a recent interview with Forbes, he said the future of the franchise and established that a new movie is in the works. But, it’s unclear that the movie will continue the story of Prometheus and Covenant.

When asked about the new Alien movie project, Scott said:

“That’s in process. We went down a route to try and reinvent the wheel with Prometheus and Covenant. Whether or not we go directly back to that is doubtful because Prometheus woke it up very well. But you know, you’re asking fundamental questions like, ‘Has the Alien himself, the facehugger, the chestburster, have they all run out of steam? Do you have to rethink the whole bloody thing and simply use the word to franchise?’ That’s always the fundamental question.”

There is a fifth Alien movie project that is being worked on, and it’s about the future of Ripley.

Sigourney Weaver said that she was sent a 50-page treatment for this Alien 5 project. The script also included the tagline, “In space, no one can hear you scream. In space, no one can hear you dream.” There’s also a quote on the cover from Edgar Allen Poe that reads, “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” Then there’s a quote by William Tecumseh Sherman that says, “War is hell.”

Producer Walter Hill talked about the script and explained that the “destiny” of Ellen Ripley is important to the new movie:

“Sigourney, as she has from the very beginning, is being too modest about her proven ability to pull off the idea — which is to tell a story that scares the pants off your date, kicks the ass of a new Xenomorph, and conducts a meditation on both the universe of the Alien franchise and the destiny of the character of Lt. Ellen Ripley.”

Not sure if Weaver would come back to the franchise. She has cast doubt saying that, saying, “Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.” But, who knows! Maybe she will come back for the upcoming Alien movie.
