Nickelodeon revealed the first trailer for their new animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I have to say I didn’t like the character designs when they were first revealed, but it looks even worse now when I saw it in the trailer. I know the series was made for kids but still, I am not a fan of this cheap look animation and it is on the rise these days, check out Duck Tales as another example, I just think it’s a shame that this is the kind of stuff that they have to grow up with. I’ve seen some people say it’s a new kind animation work, but that’s obviously not the case, it looks cheap, period.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows the band of brothers – Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo – as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. Co-executive produced by Andy Suriano and Ant Ward, the 26-episode series will debut on Nickelodeon later this year.
The series features the voice talents of Ben Schwartz as Leonardo, Omar Miller as Raphael, Josh Brener as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith as Michelangelo, Kat Graham as April O’Neil and Eric Bauza as Splinter. The main villain, Baron Draxum, will be voiced by WWE-wrestler, John Cena.
