Martin Scorsese is not retiring from movies after all. For the past several years, he’s been making a project called Killers of the Flower Moon and both Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio have been surrounding the project. At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Robert De Niro was given the organization’s lifetime achievement award by Leonardo DiCaprio. It was here that DiCaprio confirmed that they both will be working together on the movie, saying:
“I’ve learned so much from the both of them. I’m fortunate to call them collaborators, Bob since This Boy’s Life and Marty since Gangs of New York. And after 30 years, to work alongside Bob again in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming drama Killers of the Flower Moon is a true honor.”
De Niro and DiCaprio already worked together on the 1993 movie, This Boys Life. They also worked together in Marvin’s Room, So it will be amazing to see them both together once more.
The film is based on the non-fiction book by David Grann, with a script by Eric Roth.
At the end of the nineteenth century, the Osage Indians were driven onto a presumed worthless expanse of land in northeastern Oklahoma. But their territory turned out to be atop one of the largest oil deposits in the United States; to obtain that oil, prospectors were required to pay the tribe for leases and royalties. By the 1920s, the members of Osage Nation had become the wealthiest people per capita in the world. And then the Osage began to die under mysterious circumstances.
