Rooftop Pool Spills Everywhere As Earthquake Hits Manila

Rooftop Pool Spills

The swimming pool on the roof was shaken so hard that water went spilling out of the Anchor Skysuites, a residential building in the Binondo district of Manila.

The quake registered as a magnitude 6.1, with the epicenter reported to be about 50 miles from Manilla, local media Filipino Times reports.

At least eight people have died in the earthquake, according to CNN.

Large water reservoirs on the roofs of buildings are often used as a mass-damper system to help counter the swaying of tall buildings.
