Salvador Dali’s ‘The Persistence of Memory’ Painting Explained

Salvador Dali’s ‘The Persistence of Memory’

Salvador Dali, who is a creator of surrealism, remains one of the most badly contested figures in the international art world. His iconic painting, “The Persistence of Memory,” is said to represent some of modern art‘s signature features as well as insights into the artist himself.

Despite its increased level of detail, the painting is only about the size of a standard sheet of paper. Dali is playing with the perception of scale, making it seem as if the observer is looking down on the art through the incorrect end of a telescope.
