Sam Raimi Talks About SPIDER-MAN 3’s Notorious Dance Scene

Many fans give Sam Raimi and Spider-Man 3 a tough time about Tobey Maguire’s notorious dance scene. The scene took place after he converted into emo Peter Parker due to being polluted by the black Venom suit. This was Parker as the bad boy, and it was very stupid, to be honest.

I remember when watching the movie in theaters with my buddies and we were all laughing like hell at the scene and that was the whole point of it! Raimi was going for funny. In a recent interview with Fandom, Raimi talked about the silly scene, saying:

“Well, we meant it to be funny, actually. It was Peter Parker’s version – this lame kid – of what it must be like to be his evil self. But he’s so whipped. He’s so out of it that that’s his take on it. And that didn’t go over well with the audience. But that’s what we were trying to do. So I’m not surprised that people… I’m glad people find it funny! We wanted it to be fun.”

You know, I know a lot of people give Spider-Man 3 a hard time, and while it has its issues it’s really not that bad of a movie, especially the first half of it. Raimi did what he can with what the studio wanted him to do.
