Director David Yates known for directing final four Harry Potter movies, Word from Deadline is that Yates is in final talks to direct a second attempted reboot of the iconic drug-dealing movie Scarface, first crafted as a 1932 bootlegging film before being reconstructed by director Brian de Palma for Al Pacino in the better known 1983 Miami cocaine-dealing crime classic.
Having been thirty years since that movie, Universal PIctures have been refining a script for an even more modern version of the story and David Yates is in final talks to direct as they hope to move forward with that project soon.
This is not being considered a remake or a sequel to the earlier movie but a “reboot” about a crime kingpin “who through a ruthless campaign of ambition goes in hot pursuit of his American Dream – whatever that is in this decade.” According to Deadline
