The folk over at Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios have had one heck of a time trying to keep downloadable roster updates under wraps for the recently released Injustice: Gods Among Us. For those who’ve been paying attention to the leaks regarding Injustice, every downloadable character revealed thus far hasn’t come as a surprise whatsoever. That said, knowing that Mortal Kombat‘s iconic Scorpion would eventually join the ranks of Batman and Superman didn’t diminish the ‘pow’ factor of the character’s official confirmation today.
For those who are unfamiliar with the character (which we can’t imagine would be a case for many), Scorpion is the poster boy for NetherRealm’s popular Mortal Kombat series. His backstory isn’t a very happy one – the guy’s whole family was wiped out by a rival clan before he himself was murdered – but at least Scorpion’s sob story doesn’t include the destruction of an entire planet.
This doesn’t even mark the first time that Scorpion has gone up against the likes of DC Comics’ finest either; the pair of universes originally clashed in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Still, the character’s inclusion is a fun-filled crossover that’s on par with Freddy Krueger’s appearance in 2011′s Mortal Kombat.
Scorpion will be coming at a currently undetermined date and will retail for $5 (400 Microsoft Points) – provided that users haven’t already invested in the Injustice Season Pass. He joins the likes of Lobo and Batgirl.
