As spring approaches, new shows are hitting the big television networks, and others are returning for a new season. Regular cable networks are battling sites like Netflix and Amazon that stream original series and as a result, there are a lot of new programs on the radar. Here are six of the most interesting shows that should be making the top of your list.

Twin Peaks had everyone puzzled in the 1990s, and it is returning to the small screen for a reboot. This cult classic can now be watched on Showtime and is set to premiere on May 21, 2017. All eyes are focused on Laura Palmer’s last seven days. David Lynch has explained that the new season was written as a whole and will be divided over 18 episodes. Anyone who loved the original should not miss this revival.

The Leftovers

The final season of The Leftovers is set for April 16, 2017. The entire first season was based on the novel by Tom Perrotta. Viewers watched as over 140 million people suddenly disappeared, but a small Texas city was spared. Two families, the Garvey’s and the Murphy’s, have their lives forever changed and search for their purpose in a place that is filled with rejection. The aftermath is never totally realized. The final season is going to be great for fans who have followed the plot over the last two years, or for the newcomers who are just getting addicted.

iZOMBIE

iZombie

One of the best murder mystery shows on television is iZombie. Liv, the main character, solves murders by eating the brains of the victims and channeling their memories and characteristics. With the great acting abilities of the entire cast and the writers who were famous for creating Veronica Mars, this television show is a something exciting to watch this spring. Each story is multi-layered and is packed with action. The 32 one-hour episodes will have you laughing and crying, which is why it is a must-see for spring.

Underground

Anyone interested in history will want to make sure not to miss Underground. Set during the Civil War era, the script is written in a stylish manner and delivers an action-packed drama that is filled with sexual tension. This type of documentary is usually found on public television, but this series is different. It tells a story about the revolutionary period in an interesting way that has never been tackled before. Watching this television show will hook you on history and draw you back week after week.

Better Call Saul

This crime drama created by Vince Gilligan is entering its third season and is the spinoff prequel to Breaking Bad. Viewers follow James Morgan, a lawyer who appeared as Saul Goodman. Originally, this series was planned as a half-hour comedy, however, the hour-long episodes allow for more dramatic themes to be explored. Throughout the show, Goodman does everything possible to avoid an actual court of law. The third season premieres on April 10, 2017.

Streaming on Amazon, this show is an “imperfect” comedy. The two main characters, Sharon and Rob, begin a romantic relationship and Sharon becomes pregnant. Each episode takes a funny look at the way they deal with marriage, parenting, and other common day-to-day challenges. It makes you feel normal about your life and proves that funny things happen all the time. Anyone who does not have a lot of time on his or her hands will enjoy the 30-minute episodes. Since there are only 12 to watch, you can catch up easily if you are new to the show.
