Screen Gems has released the first trailer and poster for the upcoming Slender Man horror movie. The legend of Slender Man is going around for a while and it is unbelievable that no one made a movie before about this legend. It is directed by Sylvain White (The Losers) and this trailer gives me the creeps, I am a sucker for urban legends and this one is looking very good.
The legend is something like this, the character came from a Photoshop challenge on the Something Awful forums. The challenge asked users to take boring or dull photos and add a horror element to them and make them creepy. The Slender Man idea came from the mind of Eric Knudsen a.k.a. “Victor Surge,” who posted a couple photos of children with a tall suited figure standing in the background. The thing went viral and people start claiming to have had experiences involving Slender Man when they were kids. It increased into a couple young girls actually trying to kill someone a few years ago as a sacrifice to Slender Man. The stories of the stabbing were told in the documentary Beware the Slenderman, if you haven’t seen it I recommend you should.
The story of this movie center around the strange vanishing of a young girl and the Slender Man is behind of it all, obviously.
The movie stars Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns), Joey King (The Conjuring and Wish Upon), Julia Goldani Telles (Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life), Annalise Basso (Ouija: Origin of Evil) and Alex Fitzalan. Slender Man opens in theaters May 18, 2018.
