SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE New Update on How Many Spider-Man Characters Appear in the Film

Exciting news has emerged regarding the highly anticipated film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Previously, it was revealed that the movie would showcase an impressive array of 240 Spider-Man characters. However, fans will be thrilled to learn that the count has now been raised even higher, with director Justin Thompson recently confirming that the film will feature a staggering 280 Spider-Man variants.

During an interview with Collider, the filmmaker said:

“The exact number? Oh boy, we kept adding, like all the way up until the very end. Honestly, I’m gonna be level with you, we just finished the film, like in the last like two weeks, and I don’t think I’ve had time to pause and actually take a final count. But I think it was about 280 the last time I looked in. Just to be clear, that doesn’t mean specific, unique characters that you might recognize, it might mean variations as well. But if you’re just talking about named characters, then I think there’s probably about 95.”

The trailers released so far have given us a taste of the multitude of Spider-Man characters that will be showcased in the movie. These trailers have depicted the thrilling sight of various Spider-Men and Spider-Women chasing after Miles Morales, the main protagonist. The sheer number of characters promises to deliver an unforgettable and action-packed cinematic experience.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Shameik Moore reprising his role as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mother, Rio Morales, Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, also known as Spider-Woman, Jorma Taccone as Vulture, Rachel Dratch, Shea Whigham, Greta Lee, and Jason Schwartzman portraying the villainous Spot. Additionally, Andy Samberg has recently joined the cast, adding even more star power to the already stellar lineup.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will transport audiences across multiple universes, each with its own unique aesthetic. We will visit Gwen’s Earth-65, with its striking watercolor palette, as well as the captivating Mumbattan, inspired by Indian culture. Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man 2099, also known as Miguel O’Hara, resides in Nueva York, while Daniel Kaluuya’s Hobart “Hobie” Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk, inhabits the rebellious New London. Furthermore, there is mention of a mysterious fifth dimension, the details of which are being tightly kept under wraps for now, only adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.

The sequel follows the journey of Miles Morales as he finds himself thrust into the multiverse, where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folks to confront a villain of unprecedented power. As Miles reunites with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s steadfast, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse. In this vast expanse, he encounters a group of Spider-People entrusted with safeguarding its very existence. However, when the heroes find themselves at odds over how to handle a new threat, Miles is forced into conflict with the other Spiders, compelling him to redefine the essence of heroism in order to protect those he holds dear.
