To honour the Queen’s 63 years on the throne, London-based street artist Pegasus has painted a partially nude drawing of Her Majesty on the side of the Winchester Bar in Angel, North London.

“I painted her last Wed, way ahead of the big day,” Pegasus told Mashable. “The designing process took a little over two weeks, two days to draw, a day to cut and three hours to paint.”

“There is no denying that the queen was stunning when she was young.

I wanted to honour that beauty

I wanted to honour that beauty but also portray her in a way that she has never been seen before. I have been fascinated by the transition in the Royal Family from monarchy to celebrity over recent years and wanted to add a bit of modern day celebrity influence into the piece, hence the nude bum.”Pegasus told us he’s received a largely positive response to the work so far.

“The feedback has been great but of course with anything there are a few people who feel it’s not for them,” he explained. “I am sure there are a few people who think I should be sent to the tower, and they are probably right.”
