Taika Waititi’s Pirate Comedy Series OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH Hilarious Trailer Released

HBO Max has released the new trailer for Taika Waititi’s upcoming pirate comedy series Our Flag Means Death. The series is about a dysfunctional band of pirates as they set on a series of adventures on the open sea and we get to see more of their perilous, wild, and humorous pirate adventure in this trailer. The series will debut on HBO Max on March 3rd, 2022.

The story is set in the early 18th century and loosely based on the true adventures of Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), who is described as “a pampered aristocrat who abandons his life of privilege to become a pirate.”

Bonnet was a wealthy landowner who later turned to a life of criminality as a pirate. During a mid-life crisis, he purchased a sailing vessel, named it Revenge, “and traveled with his paid crew along the Eastern Seaboard of what is now the United States, capturing other vessels and burning other Barbadian ships.”

Taika Waititi plays Blackbeard the Pirate, history’s most feared pirate, in the series. We get to see a lot more of him in this trailer and he’s so funny in his new role! The series also stars Kristian Nairn (Game of Thrones), Joel Fry (Cruella), Nat Faxon (Reno 911), and Leslie Jones (Ghostbusters). Other cast members include Nick Kroll, Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Vico Ortiz, Ewen Bremner, Matt Maher, Kristian Nairn, Con O’Neill, Guz Khan, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, and Samba Schutte.
