This Irish supernatural horror movie The Hole in The Ground is playing at Sundance right now, and the buzz for this movie is great! A lot of people are talking about how genuine and horror it is. This is apparently the horror movie of the year and you should not miss it at all.
The story centers around a mother and her son, who starts to display some creepy, disturbing behavior after coming across a sinkhole in the middle of a forest. Here’s the synopsis:
Sarah (Seána Kerslake) moves her precocious son, Chris (James Quinn Markey), to a secluded new home in a rural town, trying to ease his apprehensions as they hope for a fresh start after a difficult past. But after a startling encounter with a mysterious new neighbour, Sarah’s nerves are set on edge. Chris disappears in the night into the forest behind their house, and Sarah discovers an ominous, gaping sinkhole while searching for him. Though he returns, some disturbing behavioural changes emerge, and Sarah begins to worry that the boy who came back is not her son.
The movie is written and directed by Lee Cronin (Ghost Train) and it is somewhat similar to the horror movie The Babadook. James Cosmo (Braveheart), and Kati Outinen will also appear in the upcoming horror.
The Hole in the Ground will be released in March 1st, 2019.
