Universal Pictures has unleashed a new trailer for Blumhouse’s upcoming horror movie The Black Phone, which comes from Doctor Strange and Sinister director Scott Derrickson. This looks like a serious horror movie for the genre fans, and it’s based on a short story from Joe Hill and from his bestselling book 20th Century Ghosts.
Ethan Hawke stars in the horror and it features him in the most horrifying role of his career. He is joined by Mason Thames in his first-ever film role.
Thames plays Finney Shaw, ”a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”
The Black Phone will hit the theaters during the summer on June 24th.
