That’s How You Activate YouTube Dark Mode

YouTube has a secret dark mode which most of us do not even know about– and now you can learn here how to activate it.

As found by one resourceful Redditor, the secret mode appears to be available solely on the latest reiteration of Chrome (version 57 and above) – and once enabled, it seems to automatically apply to the rest of the website, including the homepage and the channel pages.

Here’s how you can activate it:

Open the Chrome developer tools tab on YouTube homepage.
- Windows users can do this by pressing Ctrl + Shift + I.
- Mac users can do this by pressing Option + Cmd + I.
You can also just open the console and paste:

Refresh the page, if the new layout is enabled, go to your avatar, and from the menu there should be a dark mode toggle.
