Bennett, the owner of JLB Wedding in Detroit, now admits that his first attempt was pretty terrible. But over the last few years, he has fine-tuned his craft and the wedding GIF has become his calling card, so to speak.
“I believe the best GIFs communicate the feeling of the infinite,” he told HuffPost Weddings. “Like how a great kiss can feel like it’s lasting a lifetime while the rest of the world spins on outside of your private moment.”
Bennett said his GIFs are comprised of photos — not video — because he enjoys the distinct, choppy stop-motion look.
“It only takes a few minutes during the photo session for me to set up the camera, tripod and remote release, and to coach the subjects on what to do — whether that’s a repeating movement or just standing as still as possible,” he told HuffPost Weddings. Afterwards, it takes another 30 to 90 minutes on the computer to put it all together.
