Producer James Wan talks about the third movie and it is more like a detective story, which is a complex and interesting way of shifting the tone. Director Michael Chaves adds to that, saying that David Fincher’s Se7en was a great reference point when developing the story. The goal was to take Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren and Patrick Wilson’s Ed Warren out of a haunted house and set them on an investigative trip.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will tell the “chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will be released on June 4th, 2021.
