THE JUNGLE BOOK Full Poster and Jon Favreau Discusses the Movie

Disney has released the full poster poster for The Jungle Book. It features Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa, King Louie, and Shere Khan.

Director Jon Favreau talked to /film about the movie.

“Ultimately when you make a movie, you want them to feel things. You don’t just want to wow them with spectacle. I think you have to deliver spectacle because that seems to be the only unifying that that everyone around the world likes, to go on a big ride and be immersed. But for me as a filmmaker, if you’re not going back to the old myths and telling them in a new way, you’re not interesting, you’re not doing the type of storytelling that I enjoy spending years of my life doing.

“I tend to like movies that make me feel something. I love the very pure myths, and there always seems to be a certain type of emotion. I don’t know if… it’s not like I intend it, but here’s a kid without a family who’s really persevering and going up against such hardships and such enduring loss, but still, you know, unflagging and fighting hard. And if you look at… my movies have been so different in genre, but I think you can figure out which are mine and it comes from the type of humor.”

Jungle Book

Directed by Jon Favreau, based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film.

The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela.

Release date April 15th, 2016.
