Sony Pictures is trying to start the production of Masters of the Universe for years! YEARS! Finally, it’s happening. The movie will start shooting this July in Prague. The new comes from Production Weekly, who reports:
Masters of the Universe is set to be directed by brothers Adam and Aaron Nee. They made a little indie film in 2015 called Band of Robbers. They will direct from a recent script written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who has worked on films such as Iron Man and Men in Black: International. The previous draft of the screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, who has worked on several of the DC movie properties. He’s still attached as a producer.
I really hope this movie turns out to be great because we have seen many variants of Masters of the Universe in the past and they were all crapy and it will be a shame if it turns out to be an average movie. Here’s a description:
King Randor will be presented as the great warrior-king of Eternia, a descendant of the Grayskulls, and the father of two sons: Adam and Keldor! As the film begins, Keldor is the chosen heir to the throne and his brother, Adam, is young, unfit and a bit of a black sheep. Where Adam’s relationship with his father is strained, Keldor is the epitome of a perfect son, beloved by his father…until the fate of Eternia is put on the line. With his kingdom on the line, Randor puts his people first, betraying Keldor, inciting the series of events that leads to him becoming the iconic Skeletor!
The film will follow the meek and uncertain Adam as he assembles a group of heroes to take on his fallen brother and his collection of cronies. As you might expect, some familiar faces will be joining Adam in the fight.
