The Moon Crashing Into Earth in Roland Emmerich’s MOONFALL Trailer

Lionsgate released the first teaser trailer for its new sci-fi disaster thriller Moonfall. The movie comes from director Roland Emmerich, who is known for making end of the earth movies his best film is Independence Day. Most of the movies he’s made are about Earth destruction, and this one is no different.

In Moonfall, we see the moon is crashing into Earth. It’s explained that “a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.” In the story “with mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.”

As you’ll see in the trailer, there seems to be some kind of alien creature adding to the disturbing chaos of this violent catastrophe. What does that have to do with the moon not being what we think it is? We have to wait for the movie.

The movie also stars Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland. Moonfall will hit theaters on February 4, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
