The Russo Brothers’ Action Spy Thriller Series CITADEL New Trailer

CITADEL

Prime Video has recently released an exciting new trailer for the highly anticipated spy thriller action series, Citadel. Produced by none other than Joe and Anthony Russo, the masterminds behind the blockbuster hits Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the upcoming series is poised to be their answer to the legendary James Bond franchise.

Featuring an impressive cast led by Richard Madden (known for his role in Eternals) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (famous for her portrayal in Quantico), Citadel follows the story of two secret agents whose memories have been wiped. Together, they embark on a dangerous mission that takes them across the globe in a race against time to prevent the rise of a shadowy new world order.

In a recent interview with Total Film, Joe Russo revealed that the series was heavily inspired by the iconic James Bond. Fans can expect a thrilling and action-packed adventure, complete with heart-stopping stunts, intense fight scenes, and a touch of romance. With the Russo brothers at the helm, viewers can rest assured that Citadel will be nothing short of spectacular, and a must-watch for any fan of the spy thriller genre.

“It’s an accurate way to talk about it, without question. I mean, we loved Bond growing up. We’re immense fans of Bond, but our job is to try to take what we love about these sorts of genres and films that have influenced us and figure out ways to push them into spaces and places that surprise us … Our job as storytellers isn’t to bring you another version of Bond. Our job as storytellers is to bring you a fresh experience that you are excited and surprised by. So hopefully we hit that mark. We’ll see.

“This is a genre that traditionally has a male lead, and so what was interesting to us was upending that. Priyanka is really gifted physically. She is a badass on camera and she kicks a lot of ass in the show. Without giving too much away, her character is driving a lot of the action for the better part of the series, and Richard’s character is playing catch up. That was a really interesting and exciting idea for us.”

Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency — tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people — was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra Jonas) had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives. They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts.

Until one night, when Mason is tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (The Inside Man’s Stanley Tucci), who desperately needs his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.

The production value for this show is incredibly high, with a budget of over $200 million, making it one of the most expensive shows ever produced. This level of investment is a testament to the popularity and potential of the source material, as well as the commitment of the show’s producers and creative team to bringing this epic story to life on screen.

One of the driving forces behind the production of “The Wheel of Time” is Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon Studios. Salke has been vocal about her passion for the project, which she has described as an “Avengers-style spy show, with spies from key countries who come together for the ultimate mission.” This description highlights the global scope of the story, which spans multiple kingdoms and cultures, and the high stakes of the heroes’ quest to save their world.

With a talented cast and crew, stunning visual effects, and a dedicated fan base eager to see their favorite characters brought to life, “The Wheel of Time” is poised to be one of the most exciting and ambitious fantasy series of recent years. Whether you are a long-time fan of the books or a newcomer to the world of Rand al’Thor and the Aes Sedai, this is a show that promises to deliver epic adventure and unforgettable characters.

The highly-anticipated Amazon Prime series, Citadel, is set to debut on April 28th, and fans are eagerly awaiting the release of this action-packed thriller. The show stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico, Baywatch) and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Bodyguard) as two agents from different countries who are forced to work together to save the world from a looming threat.

Chopra Jonas plays the role of Alex Parrish, an Indian spy who is highly skilled in the art of espionage. Madden, on the other hand, plays the role of Jack Dupont, an American CIA operative who is equally adept at handling high-pressure situations. Together, they must navigate a complex web of international politics and intrigue to uncover a conspiracy that threatens to destabilize the world order.

But they are not alone in their quest. Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread, The Crown) plays the role of Dahlia Archer, the British Ambassador to the United States, whose loyalties may lie elsewhere. Highly cunning and ambitious, Archer is both a valuable asset and a formidable foe, and her presence adds an extra layer of tension to the already high-stakes game of espionage.

Citadel is not just a standalone series, however. It is the first in what Amazon calls “the beginning of an original landmark universe-slash-franchise with interconnected stories traversing the globe.” The plan also includes spinoffs that would see the spy characters “having their own adventures on their home turf. India, Italy, and Mexico.”

The six-episode first season of Citadel will release its first two episodes on April 28th on Amazon Prime Video, with subsequent episodes rolling out weekly on Fridays through May 26th. And, to the delight of fans, the series has already been renewed for Season 2, ensuring that there will be plenty more thrilling adventures to come.

With its star-studded cast, gripping plot, and promise of interconnected stories across multiple locations, Citadel is shaping up to be one of the most exciting shows of the year. Don’t miss out on this action-packed ride, and be sure to tune in to Amazon Prime Video starting on April 28th.
