THE SIMS 4 Base Game is Free Right Now!

The Sims 4

The Sims 4 is an incredibly popular life simulation game. It was released in 2014 and as of earlier this week, the base game is free to play. EA and Maxis just made the change and announced what’s in store for the future of the franchise at the recent Behind The Sims Summit. You can now download the game for free on Mac and PC via the EA app, Origin, and Steam or on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Maxis is still creating new experiences for the game though and so players can expect more new The Sims 4 content for the foreseeable future.

In addition, fans were given a glimpse of the next game in The Sims franchise which is called Project Rene. This will take the same concept that fans love and work to develop the way that a player’s Sims think and act. We were teased with more ways to play, more tools to encourage creativity, and the capability to “tell meaningful stories.” You’ll be able to play solo or in partnership with others across supported devices. Talking about Project Rene, Lyndsay Pearson of The Sims team said:

From the start, The Sims defined life simulation games and has continued to grow into an incredible platform for creativity and self-expression. Today marks the start of our journey over the next few years as we work on this next game and creative platform, currently titled Project Rene. We are building on the same foundation that has made The Sims compelling for generations of players and pushing the boundaries to create new experiences. We’ll have much more to share as we continue to progress on the game’s development and milestones along the way.
