The Sims 4 Is Free-To-Play On Xbox Now

The Sims 4

EA has chosen to transition The Sims 4 into a completely free-to-play game on Xbox, more than five years after its launch on the platform. The team feels that whilst new expansions are still in the works for the game and they are “committed” to the future of The Sims, now is the right time to move to free-to-play.

To celebrate, players can choose a selection of free in-game rewards, as The Sims 4 goes free on Xbox. The rewards contain “a variety of tattoos to adorn your Sims, and a special Plumbob ceiling fan”, all available in The Sims 4, The Sims FreePlay, and The Sims Mobile, right now!

Xbox gamers get an extra bonus too if you’re a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber at least! EA is offering an alternate edition of The Sims 4 via EA Play, which contains an additional expansion at no extra charge.

The Sims 4 moves to a free-to-play format, and the team has shown that development is already underway on the next ‘The Sims’ game. The process is very early on right now, but ‘Project Rene’ is set to “fundamentally evolve how Sims think and behave, how players create and customize their worlds, and innovate in entirely new ways”.
