The Story Behind INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM’s Bridge Scene

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM

Academy Originals released a very cool story behind the INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM bridge scene, the web series from the organization behind the Oscars that “examines everything from the creative process, to the moments that changed the course of filmmaking, to the artists who are charting its future.” This week, they sit down with Oscar-winning Special Effects Supervisor George Gibbs, who tells a story about the bridge sequence in the film.

George Gibbs, who has notably worked on ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, ‘Alien,’ tells a very animated story about how they blew up the bridge in ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.’

Learn about the day he, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford destroyed the bridge they built from scratch amidst the 10 cameras filming, weather issues and the massive crowd waiting anxiously to see the spectacle.
