Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for The Woman King, the forthcoming historical epic action drama starring Oscar winner Viola Davis. The film is currently slated to hit the theaters on September 16.
The Woman King trailer, which you can check out below, highlights Davis’ General Nanisca as the most phenomenal female warrior to ever live. In the video, Nanisca leads her army of women warriors into the upcoming war against strangers from the West who are preparing to take over their empire.

Agojie is also known as the inspiration for the Dora Milaje, a group of women warriors that serve as the Black Panther’s royal guard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Woman King is currently slated to hit the theaters on September 16.
