Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s Playtone production company has made a multi-year deal with Apple to make films and series for the Apple TV+ streaming service.
They already finished production on the World War II series Masters of the Air, which follows “the deeply personal story of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.” This is the next installment of the Band of Brothers and The Pacific series.
It was also revealed that Hanks is producing a sequel to his WWII movie, Greyhound. The first film was released on Apple TV+ and was inspired by the actual events of Captain Ernest Krause, who led an international convoy of 37 ships on a perilous mission across the Atlantic to deliver soldiers and supplies to Allied forces.
There are no details on the sequel, but I loved the first movie, and I’m interested to see what story the sequel will tell.
The pact also contains documentaries and unscripted projects for Apple to develop, produce and distribute world over.
