MONK

Exciting news for fans of the hit TV series Monk! Peacock has officially confirmed that a Monk movie is in the works, and Tony Shalhoub is set to reprise his role as the beloved and quirky detective, Adrian Monk. In a recent interview with EW, Shalhoub shared some details about the upcoming film, which is set after the COVID pandemic.

“It’s Monk present day after however long we’ve been away from him, 13 years now, going on 14 years. This is post-covid. Monk has been knocked back on his heels because of covid. He’s older. He’s not going to be chasing down things on the street and things like that. Hopefully (laughs). We’re going to have to write to the fact that Monk’s older.”

According to Shalhoub, the film will feature a “really interesting story” with all of the elements that made the show so popular, but with a few new twists. As a genius detective with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Monk’s condition both hinders and enhances his ability to observe and solve crimes, making for an entertaining and unique viewing experience.

The idea of seeing how Monk is living his life after the events of the series and after living through a pandemic is sure to captivate fans. Shalhoub himself expressed his excitement for the project, saying that he can’t wait to dive back into the world of Monk and bring new adventures to the character’s loyal fanbase.

Shalhoub went on saying:

“I’m really excited about revisiting it because when we ended it, it really felt like that was going to be it. But to have this opportunity to to see where we all are [is special]. All of the characters have gone through some changes in those years.”

It remains to be seen what the plot of the movie will entail or what new challenges Monk will face, but one thing is certain: fans of the show will be eagerly anticipating this new chapter in the beloved character’s story. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
