Netflix has released a very serious trailer for their new upcoming series Wormwood, and it looks incredibly good. This is a documentary series that stars Peter Sarsgaard and it reveals the untold true story of the CIA. What does it mean? It will the history of LSD experiments, mind control, and the death of a family man are just a few of the stories involved in a huge cover-up.
The incredible six-part series will be directed by Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line, The Fog of War) and it follows the true story of Eric Olsen’s journey to uncover the truth about his father’s death. To tell this story it combines narrative scenes, archival footage, and interviews. I love such stories and such documentaries, this is what you call good television, so excited for the show.
Wormwood explores the limits of knowledge about the past and the lengths we’ll go in our search for the truth. A twisting, evolving story of one man’s sixty-year quest to identify the circumstances of his father’s mysterious death. Combining a virtuosic performance by Sarsgaard with Morris’ legendary interview style, Wormwood examines this case from every possible angle, bringing the viewer face-to-face with some of the United States’ darkest secrets.
Wormwood also stars Molly Parker, Christian Camargo, Scott Shepherd, Tim Blake Nelson, Jimmi Simpson, Bob Balaban, and Michael Chernus.
Wormwood will air on Netflix December 15th.
