Lana Del Rey keeps surprising us. Her mini-album “Black Beauty” appeared on the web recently, and now she’s presenting a trailer to a short film “Tropico”. Not the usual movie video, “Tropico” last half an hour mystery that is “coming to a city near you”. Lana calls the movie a “tale of redemption”.
The soundtrack consists of songs from Lana’s recent EP “Paradise”: Bel Air, Body Electric, and Gods and Monsters. The trailer of upcoming thing, is now on YouTube, so you can take a look.
The trailer starts with the quote of Walt Whitman (Lana’s favorite poet) read by Lana, and then we can see her posing against a mountain background.
The movie’s directed by Antony Mandler, also famous for his previous works with Taylor Swift and Rihanna. Mandler also was a director of previous Lana’s videos including ten-minutes one for her song“Ride”. Looks like she decided that 10 minutes are not enough.
Besides Lana herself, there was also one actor – Shaun Ross, an actor and dancer of African descent, best known for being the first male albino model. As it became known from the fan site, in the movie we will see images of Marylin Monroe, Elvis, and Jesus.
